Please indicate if there are emails in spam! I almost missed paying a bill on time because it was in spam and I did not notice it!
Spam

This is my biggest issue with the new format and why I held on to the old version for as long as I could. Numbers for Drafts and Inbox are there so why not Spam. I complained about it the first time I tried the new version ages ago.

Please put the number of mail indicator back on SPAM!
I have to say that I am having the same issue and just by chance I clicked on SPAM and found two emails that were not SPAM. Not having a number indicator for SPAM could mean missing important email.

Yes, this is important.

I need to see how much spam is in the folder without opening it

yahoo doesn't pay ANY attention to these comments. Thousands of them, all critical of the new mail but yahoo only addresses those that don't require going back to the old mail. Once they make a change they are completely unwilling to admit it was a mistake despite overwhelming opinion.

Yeah, hover over inbox, sent, or trash and you get a number. yahoo's genius techs couldn't put this feature in for spam????????????????? Funny, THE OLD MAIL had it!

Thank you for flagging this - I have also just found a set of missing emails in Spam.
Spam folder is excellent idea (with very few mistakes), but it absolutely MUST INDICATE when there are items in the spam folder (as before). -

Yahoo "Email" is now garbage. When I have seen mention of the problem with the "Spam" box, I didn't pay much attention to them, thinking that the "Spam" worked in the Old/Classic Emails. Tonight I just checked my "Spam" box - there were 14 non-Spam emails, BUT NO INDICATION THAT THERE WERE ANY.
AND YOU WANT TO FORCE MORE GARBAGE ON YOUR SYSTEM - BEFORE YOU START MAKING STUPID CHANGES FOR THE SAKE OF STUPID CHANGES.
BEFORE FORCING THE "NEW", PATHETIC INTERFACE ON US, FIX THIS **** PROBLEM WITH THE "SPAM" BOX AND OTHER PROBLEMS - THEN LEAVE THE CHOICE OF WORKING INTERFACES TO YOUR USERS.
Also, take the thousands of comments from your users seriously - we take the time to submit them, because we want to believe that you / Oath (Verizon, Tumblr, etc.) are competent companies. The stupidity of all Oath Companies has proven to most of us that no Oath company is competent or receptive to the comments of their users.

In the past when Yahoo secretly upgrade my account I wouldn'r get email for weeks. Then I found it was in my spam folder but there was no number next to the folder. I switched back to the old format. Now that they forced the update on us it is doing the same thing. Legitimate email goes to the spam folder in much larger quantities than the old format but more importantly there is no number telling me there is email in it. You no longer support the old format but can't get the new format to work right.

I agree. It's illogical that the number of unread emails in Spam and Trash no longer shows. Recently, I've had to check both because emails I have never filtered to go to those folders have started being moved there for no reason. Also, what happened to right clicking Trash to mark as Unread all the messages there?

Please tell us when there is something in Spam as the old system did. I wouldn't have checked with looking at this feedback section. There were three - all Spam but there could have been something genuinely urgent in there.

A way to at least partly solve the problem is to put everybody, whose messages might otherwise land in your spam folder, as a contact. I think that it will make the messages go to the inbox.
I suspect that it is a deliberate decision by Yahoo to skip the spam counter, because they want us to add more addresses to our contacts and thus enhance their knowledge of us! Maybe they can sell our contact list to other companies, and the more the list contains, the higher is their profit.

In the old Yahoo mail, you showed the number of unread mails in the spam folder (to the right of the name 'Spam'. This is important information, since you very often put non-spam emails in my spam folder, although I have registered filters to put those emails in the inbox.
In the new Yahoo Mail, you don't show this information. Why????

What ^^^they^^^ said.
I'm slowly getting used to the new version of Yahoo Mail, but the thing that is missing for me is the Number of items listed next to the Spam folder.
It used to be a quick visual check to see if I needed to review the Spam, now it's a manual checking process just to see if there are any in there. -

GMX sends me email once a week with spam summary so that I never miss legit emails. Yahoo needs to get it's act together.

I keep missing legitimate emails because they get routed to my spam folder. If I mark a message as "not spam" they should stay as "not spam" yet new messages from the same address will go into spam yet again. You should have option to turn spam folder off.

You have done a magnificent job of blocking mega spammers... but sometimes valid mail gets into my spam folder. I used to check my spam folder frequently, but now that you don't show how many are unread... as you did before... I am missing some valid emails.

This is an unbelievable engineering fail. People need to know if there are spam messages, so they can check them. Sometimes wanted emails get sent to this folder by mistake.
