Schedule/Scoring Formats - 'Doubleheaders vs league score median'.
Each week, the median fantasy points of all teams in the league is calculated by taking the middle number in a sorted list of scores of each team. Each team would get a win if they beat the league median and a loss if they lose to it.

Great idea. I have tried to think of ways to make my league more fair while keeping it interesting at the same time. This nails it!

Yahoo currently offers the traditional head-to-head scoring format as well as the total points format. My idea combines both. I'm personally not a fan of the total points concept because it takes the weekly excitement out of Fantasy Football. Sure it results in the most "fair" outcome at the end of the year but that isn't worth losing much of the fun. Head-to-head obviously is far and away the most common format but how much does it suck when you lose as the 2nd highest scorer in any given week? There's no fun in that, not when it's as if you can't play defense against your opponent. Why should the schedule have more of an effect than your skill at putting together a team.
Anyway, my idea is to have each week head-to-head, except you are head-to-head against EVERYBODY. The top 5 highest scores get wins that week, the lowest 5 get losses. It guarantees fairness because you will only win if you deserve a win. It also will make Sunday Night and Monday Night Football all the more exciting. Instead of just competing with your 1 opponent you are competing against everyone. Every week wins and losses will come down to MNF. Now that is fairness meets excitement. Sure this idea won't be for everyone but I just want Yahoo to make it an option for everyone. I think it would be very well received. Let me know your thoughts.

Let's say that a league with six teams produces these scores during a week: 84, 83, 82, 81, 52, and 51.
Would you seriously award an extra victory point to the team with 82 points, but not award a point to the team with 81 points?
Would you seriously treat the team with 81 points the same as the team with 52 points? -

What if in some week the ten teams in your league score: 86, 85, 84, 83, 82, 81, 44, 43, 42, and 41 points.
Would you really give a victory point to the team which scored 82 points, but not give one to the team which scored 81 points?
Why would you treat the team which scored 81 points the same as the team which scored 44 points? -

I agree that Cross-Country scoring needs to be implemented.
Note to Stephen Staple: Giving the top half of the teams a win and the bottom half of the teams a loss each week is a step in the right direction. However, it's only a step. A better system would be to give the top third of the teams a win, the middle third a tie, and the bottom third a loss. An even better system would be to have each team play each team each week. -

like this. i see the a few people describe the problem of a team that can have the sixth-best score several times can still luckily get in. i say these two things. 1 - what if you have all teams play against a medium. The top 6 teams must also beat a medium score that would take all the teams combined and create a average(medium). Al teams in the top 6 must pass that number also, but here lies another problem. 2- the playoffs could become uneven if you don't allow it to split evenly.

Why bother with such a complicated system when better systems of scoring are available?
Yahoo can more easily add "All-Play" rankings under which each team plays every other team each week. That is Fair.
Your league can already use "Total Points" scoring under which the team which scores the most total points during the season wins the league. That is Fair.
Both of these systems are better than what is being suggested here. -

I agree with JK. Results would be better (more fair, more accurate) if every team played every team each week.
Also, the yahoo computers would no longer have to create and store a league schedule, saving CPU time & storage space. . -

The only suggestion our league talks about for yahoo is a scheduling double header option. every year we hope that yahoo adds it because we would utilize this immediately. It would be so much more fun to have multiple matchups every week and create less luck in playoff qualifications.

My league just voted to move to a Yahoo competitor who offers this. Please help ASAP!

A vote for this suggestion, is a vote to prioritize Multiple Match-ups per Week for this season!
I see Yahoo loves the idea of Multiple Match-ups per Week (ranging between "All Play" and "Double Headers"), but Yahoo is hedging that the software development cannot be done in time. PLEASE PRIORITIZE THIS since you removed the ability to vote for it) and MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Please make this happen ASAP. My fantasy league just voted to leave Yahoo after this season unless significant improvements to the platform are made (this is a big one). We've been on for 15 years.

There should be an option to have another kind of record/standings based on having your team play every other team in the league in a given week instead of just one based on schedule. Facing every team every week (like the records that are shared in the post-game write ups) is a more accurate reflection of who has a good team and who does not. It takes the luck of the draw out of the equation and doesn't reward the 2nd worst team in the league if they play the worst team in the league.

It would be nice if we could have more than 1 matchup each week, especially for larger leagues. With just 1 matchup per week you can't even play against every team. This option is available on other sites, but I just really like Yahoo for many other reasons.

With this category, you could have an old number of managers. The middle point team for a given week would get a tie.
