Great question!!! I was also wondering why Goligoski didn't get credit for Dallas' win and shutout, because he was on my roster for the night so why would I not get any points he accumulates?
Go to scoring & settings, scroll to the bottom where it reads "Goaltenders Stat Categories." Are assists listed among the categories that count for goalies? No.
That's why it didn't count, moron.

I agree, makes no sense at all

I like it, could do Gordie Howe Hat tricks too. Enough of them happen each year that a league could decide to add a bonus for it. Already happens for shut-outs.

I disagree with the premise. Goalies can score Gs As etc, but they rarely do and there's so much variance in it. Kickers can score TDs and 2pt conversions, etc, but they don't get credit for them in fantasy football. This is no different.

Worst idea

No as they would be overvalued as other players can not participate in Wins, Saves, Save% and SO

PIMs and hits should be rewarded in my opinion. Otherwise, everybody will only pick offensive players, making it boring. Goons and rats are a part of hockey and it is fun to have them in the lineup, contributing to our totals.

To change the scoring on PIMs from the highest number of PIMs wins to the lowest number of PIMs wins in head-to-head leagues as well as rotisserie style leagues. Teams shouldn't be rewarded for having goons on their team and in the NHL, committing a penalty is not a good thing. At least give commissioners the option to change how PIMs is scored.

Great idea they should be rewarded the same as players also wouldn't mind seeing a point for a shootout loss for points leagues

this would be a great addition

This should be a must have category in many private fantasy leagues...really surprised this is not available already.

If yahoo can give stat options for faceoffs won and faceoffs lost, they should also be able to have categories such as takeaways and giveaways. You could either have them as two stat categories or have them as one stat category like +/-. This isn't much different than hits and blocks being stats.
Shootout goals (both goalie and skater) and shootout saves would also be nice categories to add. Maybe a goalie category for overtime/shootout loss as well.

The problem that Yahoo is going to state is that it would take an overhaul to change the goalie scoring structure, but I think there is an easy way to add these stats.
Let the goalies have their own separate statistical area for Wins, Saves, etc. But, give them a skater stat line below the defensemen that are playing that night. It will usually read all 0's, but there are several goalies that get multiple assists per season and many times where goalies get penalties.

I agree as well. While goalies scoring a goal may be rare, goalies like Ben Bishop can get several assists in a season. Goalies can also get penalties fairly easily.
The easiest way to do that would simply to have the goalies receive the same skater stat line right below the defensive players. It would usually be all 0's, but you wouldn't have to completely redo the Goaltender scoring area to get it done.

I agree. Takeaways and giveaways are two important stats that are already measured and tracked on most hockey sites. I could see not having these two as scoring options if you didn't already have options for Hits, Blocks, Faceoffs Won, Faceoffs Lost, and Shots Against.
You could combine them like +/- as the other person said or have two categories like Faceoffs Won and Faceoffs Lost; it wouldn't matter to me.

I completely agree. Mike Smith for example, will contribute to many of those categories. Also PIM

Why are goalies not able to score as forwards score? Goalies can have PPP, SHP, G, A, GWG, PIMs, SOG!? These points can add value to a goalie beyond what they currently have!
And why isn't there a mechanism that allows the commissioner to correct such errors if needed?

When checking any AVERAGE stat for a player, it would be nice to be able to see the results for various periods on the same page by way of a line graph.
Example- I search the AVERAGE stats for a players goals per game for the last 7 days, vs 14 days, vs 30 days vs Season. Each period could be shown on the same page represented by a different coloured line. This could show me that a player scored 1.5 per game the last 7 days, 0.9 in the last 14 days ....
The same line graph approach could be available for the AVERAGE of any stat such a, G A, Shots, Hits... and for Goalies as well. Our brains can relate much easier to pictures (line graphs) than a string of numbers ... -

Dale. Read the OP. Right now all you can do is set a hard number for FG by distance (30-39, 40-49). The idea is to set a baseline point for range PLUS adding 0.1 a yard after certain yardage.

Been asking Yahoo for expanded GOALIE STATS since I started fantasy on this in 2006. It's just sad that they can't get it done...
