   I’m writing to report a significant issue that affected my father’s Yahoo Mail account over the past two days, which may indicate a deeper problem with how the system retrieves and caches contact data.

   Issue Summary:
   For two consecutive days, my father was unable to receive email address suggestions when composing or forwarding emails. Additionally, his contact list appeared completely empty across all platforms and browsers (we tested Chrome, Safari, and Edge on different desktops).

   Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
   • Verified that no contact lists had been deleted.
   • Confirmed that autofill and contact settings were correctly configured.
   • Cleared browser caches and cookies.
   • Attempted access from multiple devices and browsers.
   • No browser extensions were interfering with Yahoo Mail.

   Despite all efforts, the contact list remained empty and no suggestions were offered when typing in the “To” field.

   Resolution (Unexpected Behavior):
   Eventually, we created a new contact list purely for testing purposes. Immediately afterward:
   • All existing contact lists reappeared.
   • Auto-suggestions for email addresses began working again.

   Technical Observation:
   This behavior strongly suggests that Yahoo Mail was relying on cached data or a stale in-memory heap rather than making live queries to the contact database. Creating a new list likely forced a refresh or triggered a database call, which then restored access to the full contact data.

   Why This Matters:
   If Yahoo Mail is intermittently failing to retrieve contact data and falling back to outdated or empty caches without a proper refresh mechanism, this represents a serious usability and reliability issue. It can mislead users into thinking their contacts have been lost and disrupt their ability to communicate effectively.

   • Please investigate this potential caching/database retrieval bug.
   • If confirmed, consider implementing a more robust mechanism to refresh contact data automatically when an inconsistency is detected.

   It would be helpful if I could sort the Trash folder by Date Deleted in the event I accidentally delete an email and need to find it again in the Trash quickly to restore it.

6. Advert must be Spam

   The advert at the top of my list of emails is consistently "McAfee - Your card payment has failed? Update payment...". This must be spam, as any right-minded advertising department wouldn't dream of implying this.
   So we need a "Report Advert" button or some such mechanism on each ad, please. Thanks. Jerry
