Differentiation Between Unread and Read Emails
It is much harder to differentiate between unread and read email. The background color for read emails should be a higher contrast tot he unread ones.

I agree with others. The gray background for messages that are read should be changed. It does not look good.

How do you change a message from Read to Unread?
My husband and I share our email, and we frequently "Mark as Unread" to make sure our spouse sees the message.

As of today, I switched to Basic Mail. You might consider the same.
Click the three dots (low left) - Settings - Switch To basic Mail.
Yes it does not have all the advanced functions but at least it's got those BASIC ones.
Yes it does not have any graphic but at least it's not all grey with gmail rounded edges.
I am desktop user and I don't need new kids to redesign all my favoriet websites to adapt mobile phone look. I'm tired of all their experiments.
I stay with Yahoo Basic Mail. -

Please go back to the bold/not bold method of seeing which emails have been read. This new version of beiged out lines is impossible. I gave it time for my brain to adapt and it is not working. I am working less efficiently because of it. And the stupid AI summaries of a 2 sentence email is just icing on the annoying cake. This was a terrible decision. Can we go back to the bold for unread emails. Please!!!

Need to make unread emails more bold. You can barely tell what's been read or unread. Make it more prominent! Meanwhile, going back to Basic version.

I end up looking at the gray read messages first since they stand out more. There was nothing wrong with the "classic" version just having unread messages in bold font.

I'd like to have the "read" emails appear the way they used to, namely, not "highlighted" as they are now, but rather just with normal (not bold) text on a white background. The new way "highlights" ALL the "read" emails and, at first glance, it looks as if I have many "unread" emails.
By not "highlighting" the "read" emails, when a new email comes in, and it's in bold, it's easier to see -

Go back to what it was before. Looks like a kindergarten coloring class has been reading my mail!

Go back to the bold and unbold. The color fill is ridiculous and hard to look at

While browsing the comment section, it came to my mind that the average Yahoo Mail user is between 40 and 55 years old, myself included. With that in mind, please keep the layout as simple as possible—there’s no need to overcomplicate things.

I’m really frustrated with the way the Inbox and Unread sections are separated. What criteria determine this distinction? When I read an email in Unread, it disappears, and I can’t locate it anywhere! Some of those emails were important! This is extremely inconvenient—please address this issue as soon as possible.

The fact that emails that have been read (or at least opened) now have a gray background in the Inbox makes them seem as if they are totally taken care of and/or no longer important. That is usually not true (otherwise they would be deleted). Another way (even the former way) of differentiating read/opened emails from unread/unopened emails would be better. Please don't gray out emails that have been read/opened.

We did make some changes to make unread and read easier to read, but we can see it didn't help. We will go back to the team and share this feedback and make it better. Thanks for your patience.

This new format is terrible. The font is small and i can't figure out how to change and it's terrible to read.
Why do I need a summary of the email at the top? Can't I just read the email?
That summary only adds to the busy visuals of the page. There is so much there that my brain doesn't know where to look. It's like a "Where's Waldo" just trying to find the information I need.
Also- I can't differentiate between read and unread emails.
The whole look and layout is terrible . -

This new gray/white designation for read/unread is a disaster. It buries the unread emails. Please let me be able to control and turn this off. I'm with the comments here that I'm going to dump yahoo if this isn't reverted/fixed.

Bring back the classic email. This change is not for the best.

Agreed I don't like the gray highlight on read emails. Easy enough to put this option in settings - don't force this on people. Super distracting.

Seriously......it was fine the way it was.

PLEASE REMOVE THIS LATEST UPDATE. THE 2 SHADES OF WHITE TO SHOW READ AND UNREAD IS TERRIBLE.

I can't use the new dark-mode because I can't tell the difference between read and unread messages. Read messages should use light gray text on black background while unread messages should be bold-white on dark-gray background.
