Playoffs - Odd number of teams
This playoff format would allow for an odd number of teams in the playoffs. Currently, this is not an option for playoff formats.

7-Team playoffs are now available with Yahoo Fantasy Commissioner Plus: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/started-yahoo-fantasy-commissioner-sln36403.html

In addition, now I realize that I cannot change the playoff type AFTER the playoffs have started either. So, Yahoo will not let the commissioner edit the playoff schedule OR change the playoff type so I am stuck MANUALLY tracking the playoffs for each team. We used Yahoo so that we did not MANAULLY have to track points. I cannot believe that Yahoo created such a rigid system when there are so many different versions of how leagues seed for the playoffs. It would not be so bad if you did not also lock the commissioner out from changing the playoff type. This is rather unbelievable.

Agree! Please update to allow commissioners the ability to edit the playoff schedule. This is very problematic and is creating a real administrative nightmare as the commissioner.

Your commish can do that today. There is an option for the division winners to get byes, then the rest of the bracket is filled based on points. The commish can use Edit Team Points to change the results of previous games to control which teams make the playoffs.

Posted this already in a similar thread, but will be copy-pasting here:
We had this set up for our league this year in the constitution, but now I'm having to go back and manipulate the point totals for various weeks to "force" the yahoo system to accept that high point man into the 6th seed. We voted on the rule originally with the thought in my mind being "surely Yahoo would allow me to do that," but alas, I was wrong. I would hate to have to relocate our league over something silly like this.

You will have to use your commish tool Edit Team Points to get the teams into the playoffs that you want.

The yahoo playoffs are ********. Why can't you have 2 Division brackets where the divisions have playoffs and the winners end up meeting in the superbowl.. You know .. like real football, NFC vs AFC.. NFC teams don't play AFC teams in the playoffs. So idiotic how this is setup, now I have to go manually adjust scores until the stupid matchups are correct.

You can, by using Edit Team Points in commish tools. You can alter the results of previous games to manipulate which teams you want to qualify for the playoffs.

It's not perfect, but if your league has different tiebreaker rules you can work around this by having the commissioner adjust the results of games to let the right people in.

Making the playoffs is how you did against the league, not a specific team. In standard 10 team leagues, not every team plays every other team twice in the regular season like is done in the NFL for divisions.

There is no reason to be forced to use Yahoo's default rules for determining regular season tiebreakers. Give me the option in my league to allow head to head matchups for teams with identical winning percentages determine their tiebreaker, not their overall points scored. I'm frankly baffled that this is still not an option. Common sense would indicate that if I beat you in the regular season, but we're both 8-5 at the end of the year, I make the playoffs, regardless of what our total points-for are. I understand some don't agree with this, but that's why there should be options.

100% agreed with this and just came to the suggestions page for the purpose of submitting a request/gripe for the same thing. It's absurd that points are the only tiebreaking option. In no legitimate competitive format does the loser of the head to head regular season matchup progress ahead of the team that beat them simply because of points scored over the entire season. This IS a simple add and should be ranked much higher than 80th. top 5 things to implement next year, along with 2 week playoff matchups for fantasy baseball.

I 100% agree. The inability to do this today in my league (10 team, 2 division, 6 playoff spots) is resulting in some of our better teams not making the playoffs for reasons listed below. Ideally, a league with the combination of head-to-head division winners competing for the coveted first round bye, and the remaining 4 'wild card' teams making the playoffs based on point totals, seems the fairest and most fun to all of us in the league.

This will allow each team to participate in one of the playoff bracket and mitigate the possibility of a team dumping players when the playoffs is under way.
In addition, this is something that can be implemented at this very point in the season, which would not cause any disruption. The Yahoo programmer would have to modify the "varPRCurrTeamPlayoffChampionshipContention" to have the default changed.

Yes allow options. Want 10 team league where 1-4 playoffs, 5-8 playoffs. 9-10 play in a two week playoff to determine loser.

You'll have to use the commish tool Edit Points to manipulate the scores of completed games to get the teams you want into the bracket the way you want.

I agree with this, tiebreaker should be in-division results over points for. If your schedule isn't balanced, then blame your commissioner for being lazy, its not hard to make a balanced schedule.

I would love to be able to change the playoff schedule in order to give the #1 seed a choice of who to play in the first round.

Yes this is a must. It doesn't need to be as complex as a playoff sandbox is my opinion, but does at least need the option to configure the playoff qualifications based on head to head record and remaining teams with high point totals.
