Differentiation Between Unread and Read Emails
It is much harder to differentiate between unread and read email. The background color for read emails should be a higher contrast tot he unread ones.

It is difficult to distinguish the read and unread messages.

Make it easy to tell read from unread emails. Mildly bold isn't very useful.

A lighter grey would be much better

I really dislike that read messages are in grey, it's horrible UI. And make the read emails stand out more than the unread, so reverse of what I would expect.

I don't like the grey background of the readed messeges. I'd liked the bolded/non bolded version of not read/read messsages.

In the new UI (light or dark) the unread emails are not obvious enough or distinguishable enough from read emails, this is enough of a dealbreaker that I'll switch back to old view until it's fixed.

1. The "more menu" containing the settings is at the bottom of the folder list - if you have a lot of folders then it is not shown until you scroll down, which could be a long way! This should be fixed.
2. Unread messages are bold and a white background. Read messages are not bold and a grey background. Using a different background competes with the bold and is a distraction, and is unnecessary!

You changed it making all of the messages the same color. It was better before when the read messages were a different shade and the unread were easier to find. Now when I log iin it looks like I've read all the message already.

Is there a way to configure a user-inbox, so that the entire line of an email that has been read does not get shaded? Lines of emails that have been read were not fully shaded in the past.

In the list of items in the inbox, please remove the automatic shading for read items: this actually makes it harder to see the unread items (which have previously stood out anyway as they are in bold). It's contrary to best practice in terms of accessibility and has significantly worsened my user experience. If you do not wish to remove the shading entirely, please provide a function in the settings allowing using to choose whether to have it on or off. Thanks

Make it where the read messages are greyed out like it used to

Give us the option if we want our read emails to display as grey lines afterwards, as it looks totally awful and possibly designed by a 5 year old who is colour blind. Please give us the right to have the old setup where the highlighted ones are new emails and the ones that have no colour and are white throughout are the ones we have read. Please no more visits to a junior school for advice on how to better your system.

My emails are listed on the left (about 5 show) and they are all greyed out. There is the content of an email showing in the bigger pane to the right. Consequently, I can't instantly see which of the emails in the list on the left that I'm looking at. Very frustrating. It would be much better if the list on the left were greyed out APART from the email that is showing on the right; that one should be highlighted in white???

Hello,
I’m writing to share feedback on a recent change to Yahoo Mail.
I’m very disappointed that the message list background has changed to grey instead of white. I find it harder to read, visually duller, and more tiring on the eyes compared to the previous design. The white background felt clearer and offered better contrast for scanning messages quickly.
While I’m generally fine with other recent updates to Yahoo Mail, this particular change has negatively affected my experience, and I really don’t like it at all.
I wanted to ask whether Yahoo would consider changing the message list background back to white, or ideally offering a setting to choose the background colour or contrast.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this feedback.
Kind regards,

Using the dark theme the light grey highlight of new unopened mail doesn't stand out well . Maybe a blue would be better?

The new app layout for mail looks quite nice in some ways but I find the decision to have read/unread messages use a background colour change very ugly and not intuitive..
Please can you go back to or an add an option for unchanging background between messages and use the weight and colour of the font like you do elsewhere to denote read messages
white theme: black bold font = unread; grey = read
dark theme: pure white bold font = unread; grey = readthis is what you do on your iOS app and most other apps and is nice and clear without the cluttering banding of the background changing to reflect unread and the main text weight and colour differences being hard to spot...
Cheers

I am finding it really hard to read the titles of the messages that have been marked as read. The rows with message title etc are too dark grey, and there is not enough contrast for me to be able to read the actual text. I am really struggling with the accessibility of this page and the colour contrast. I need it to be lighter coloured, so that there is more contrast between text and background. Thanks.

The new differentiation between read and unread inbox messages really annoys me visually - a choice to turn it off and go back to the old style (bold for unread) would be good - for me at least.
There may be a way, but I can't find it.

Please increase contrast between read and unread emails! The new theme makes them undistinguishable to my eyes!
