Differentiation Between Unread and Read Emails
It is much harder to differentiate between unread and read email. The background color for read emails should be a higher contrast tot he unread ones.

when I look at my inbox, the distinction between READ and UNREAD messages is not clear enough. need more visual (like the old blue circle I think, or more highlight difference). I rely on looking at unread vs read on the same time to scan the inbox. its just too similar.

Can't tell read from unread. Graphics not obvious. I don't like your new format!

Hi
I started using the new interface. It's a bit disappointing at the beginning but there are new nice features and I globally like it.What still hurt and I do not like like it is the UI of the inbox which affect the UX and my efficiency .
> Unread message : light gray
> Read message : gray
I would do the opposite ... having all the rows in gray is not pleasant , uncommon ,....> selected message / line in the grid : remains gray ( not specific colour syntax to clearly highlight the selected row )
There is this new a little blue / violet shape color in front on the row , but that's too subtle and not pleasant / efficient when scrolling , deleting messages ,,,,I tried to get used to it , but after 2 days I feel that's less efficient than before or compared to other mail boxes ( outlook , gmail ..)
I'm pretty sure it's not only a personal feeling / perception.
A little rationalisation / improvement of the UI/UX part would make this new version fantastic.
At least being able to choose the background colour of the "read / unread / selected" messageBest Regards

With the new Plus, I can't tell which emails are read or unread. That NEEDS to be fixed. I can't find anything in settings that allows me to set this up.

Is it possible to get rid of the gray haze over the new inbox? It's the "light" option for those of us who might have trouble seeing, and yet there is a shade of gray over the top of the words. Makes no sense.

In the old version of Yahoo Mail, I would see emails for the current week, email from the prior week (this may have been each week for the current month), then prior month, and prior years. I really liked this view by age. Now, I find it more challenging to navigate.
I also dislike the color scheme. The old version had greater contrast between read and unread. I've tried using light versus dark presentation. Neither is helpful. Can you please restore the prior color scheme.

I don't like the gray background on my messages. I tried light mode and device mode and it's' still gray. It's hard for my old eyes to use it.

Please remove the grey shading of read messages. This is not a good user experience. I intensely dislike looking at the grey shading, and I also find myself not being able to quickly navigate my inbox due to disorientation. There is no need for such an overwhelming visual experience.

contrast between read and unread is barely discernable. messages are too far apart in list view. desktop version.

The light theme is really bad in terms of contrast ratio. When composing or replying to an email, it is hard to see where the division horizontal rules are. This makes it very difficult to distinguish the recipient field from the subject field from the message text.

Layout of new email is HORRIBLE. There's almost nothing to differentiate one email from another, making it nearly impossible to quickly review new emails without opening every single one. Previous (classic) version was much easier to see and use. Please, do something to improve the look of this "new" version of Yahoo email. Please.

The grey background, after you read an email, sucks. Please give an option to keep this white.

the gray highlighted background for priority emails are hard to read. Please allow an option for white background for priority emails.

Please remove the gray lines on my emails in the inbox. I would prefer all my messages to be white instead of gray, wtih the ads being white. It makes me feel like all my emails are highlighted.

I can't barely distinguish new emails coming in (unread) vs emails I already read from the list.
Could you please increase the text boldness to 650-700 font weight at least? Maybe, set the background-color to something like: #8d6bb433? to make it slightly pop-up more?Thank you!

The shaded gray makes it harder to see new mail, or mail you choose to keep unread. It was better when it was just bold and all the background was the same. I also don't like that you have to hunt for the spam folder. I often get mail accidentally sent to spam, so I check it periodically, and its harder to do with the new set up

My inbox does not differentiate the look of a message if it's been checked or not. I have no idea what has been checked, and what hasn't. Make it a different color, add a marker, or something.

Several changes or the option to customize would make this less cluttered with a cleaner look (more productive):
* provide the option to eliminate colored dots before each email
* option to expand message header column to show entire subject line
* option to eliminate message preview in inbox - I turned this off but it still shows
* option to space messages more closely together - I can decrease zoom to get more on the screen, but better if the interface handled it
* option to turn off "mail-to" request that shows at the top of page every time I open email
