Rosters/Lineups - Roster limits for positions.
This feature would allow commissioners to set the maximum and minimum number of players a team can roster at each position at a given time. For example, teams can have a maximum of 3 QBs on their roster or a team can have a minimum of 1 kicker. Currently there is no way to set the maximum or minimum number of players a team can roster at each position.

Every other fantasy site on planet Earth allows a private league the option of setting roster limits. It's up to the league, not the site host. Geez yahoo is archaic in its approach to this. You arrogant twits! Just et people run their leagues with the rules they want like every other fantasy site.

If Yahoo decides to allow a commish to establish a max player position,
then Yahoo needs to allow it only before the draft,
and not allow it to be put in place after the draft.
It would be easier to simply discard this idea.
Many unforeseen difficulties can arise from its use. -

I know most are opposed to only having 2 QBs on a roster but it should be an option available to people who wanna run their league that way. If you wanna use it use it if not no big deal. Options are always good. I've played in a league where people abuse QBs and try to hold them all.

This idea is not necessary.
Well, it's worse than that.
It would be destructive to good fantasy play. -

Regardless of whether it would be after the draft or before the draft,
I'd hate to have this rule imposed on a league that I play in. -

I also oppose this idea.
.
I agree that this rule should not be installed
unless Yahoo changes its format to prevent the
league's commish from changing rules after the draft. -

You don't have to suggest that a commish might change the rules after the draft, and it doesn't matter how idiotic you think it would be. I've seen it happen, and Yahoo doesn't prevent it from happening in the future.
.
You also obviously don't understand the fun of joining a league with really different rules/players and trying out your skills in that circumstance.
.
The simple truth is that the proposed change will permit a commish to decide to impose roster limits after the draft. Yahoo should NOT give a commish this opportunity. -

Hey, some of you are so dumb that I amazed you can walk and chew gum. This proposal is for private leagues and would be optional. No one is trying to force roster limits at you if you don't want them. It would only be an option for private leagues that have rules about position limits.
Nothing would change for Public leagues or for random leagues you join where you don't know anyone. (ANd why anyone would ever join one of those is beyond comprehension... unless you have no friends. )
Also, no one is suggesting that a Commish be allowed to change roster limits after the draft. That would be idiotic. So stop objecting to things that were never suggested. Sheesh. Try reading the whole thread before you dive in with your moronic complaints that are completely irrelevant to the issue.

Have played in those leagues hated it! So optional okay, but not as default.

Since Yahoo doesn't allow it, we have an agreement on certain positions.....max of 3 QB; 2 K, and 2 DEF.....no limits on RB, WR and TE......I wish Yahoo would allow this in settings

Checking the rules doesn't always help. The commish can change them.
-

If this idea is accepted, how easy (how difficult) will it be to check the rules for each league to see whether a max has been put on to a position?

I've been a commissioner for 20 years (+). No commissioner has the right to change anything once the draft has happened (unless settings didn't transfer over from last years settings). One thing I would like to see offered is a team QB position. There's too many times the QB goes down in the first quarter or half and you get stuck with no points. Granted the second string QB won't get much, but the game could still be competitive.

Most sites I've used, don't allow you to change the roster limits after the draft. And the roster limit would only affect you if the league you are in uses them. If they chose to not use them, or set the number really high, you won't even know they are there.

I agree with the comment from James posted Oct.15.
It really sucks when you join a league & then the commish changes rules after the draft.
I'd hate to have this rule thrust upon me after a draft. -

In 12 or 14 team leagues, with player talent already spread thin, it is important for the Commissioner of that league to BE ABLE to place a cap on the number of players drafted at each position to assure a more even share of available talent to all teams participating. I'm really surprised Yahoo hasn't come out with this feature yet as it is available on most other Fantasy operating systems (i.e. ESPN).

This is not just for QB's its for all player position... Some people who are not great at FF or don't know how to do research just stock up their team with players to remove them from the waiver wire... I have seen this happen year in and year out. I have started position limits in our league but I have to constantly check all the teams and drop players when a team has too many, it would be a nice option for leagues who want it. I am actually thinking about moving my league over to ESPN because they offer this feature.

If I join a league and then the Commish imposes this limit rule,
will I be allowed to drop the league?
In the past, when the Commish changes rules,
Yahoo has not allowed us to drop out of the league. -

I've been with yahoo since 01.this needs to happen for off line draft leagues.a commissioner should be able to determine how many players allowed at each position.we don't have time to check every team every day.i will have to switch to another league that has this option, would rather stay with yahoo.thanks
