Random selection of Managers on Draft Day Fantasy Baseball Flawed
I signed up for two Yahoo Fantasy Public Baseball Leagues.
Here is the issue,
1) My first Yahoo Public Baseball league had seven, yes, seven mangers listed as "Diamond or Platinum. I thought this was strange given the chances of top 5 percentile managers assigned to one league.
2) My second public fantasy baseball league--Yep, there were a total of 6 managers ranked as "Diamond or Platinum--all of them ranked in the "Top 5 percentile of mangers."
Statistically this is not fair ! Not only for the six or seven managers participating that are ranked high...but what about the managers ranked as "Bronze level or Silver"!
This goes to the core of a 'random and fair' chance in an allegedly random league. I would not mind signing up in advance for all 12 mangers to be ranked in the top 95% or 5th percentile of managers, but random, it is not.
This needs to be looked at and addressed and properly communicated to all of us who enjoy Yahoo fantasy Baseball/Football or other sports.
Thank you for your consideration and feedback.
PS. I contacted Yahoo Customer help and was told that they could not do anything to resolve or address this issue, one way or another.
I saw similar issues in basketball, but I have not seen this in baseball. Also note that if you are in a Winner league, there will be more diamond and platinum ranked players.
Also note, the number of leagues a manager plays in also affects the rankings, so it is possible you may have several very active managers in your league.
Just as an example, in the 4 leagues I'm in under this ID, 1 Winner league has 5 diamond and 5 platinum managers. The other 3 regular public leagues, the first has 2 diamond and 2 platinum, the second has 2 diamond and 3 platinum and the third has 1 diamond and 2 platinum.
