2. Starting playoffs 2/3 weeks earlier

   I also wanted to point out something I’ve noticed since submitting my original suggestion.

   I’ve been posting about this issue in the comment sections of a number of Yahoo’s top-100 player pages, and the response has been interesting. I’m consistently getting thumbs-up reactions and comments from other Yahoo fantasy baseball users who agree that the playoffs should start earlier.

   What’s especially telling is that I haven’t really seen a substantive argument against the proposal. The most common response from people who disagree is essentially, “adapt and be better.” 😂

   But that doesn’t really address the issue. Of course fantasy managers can adapt. The question is whether Yahoo’s default format should intentionally create this much additional late-season randomness when there’s a simple alternative: move the playoffs up approximately two weeks.

   It’s honestly a little insane how much we have to alter a team that we spent roughly 23 weeks building just to survive the final three weeks of the season — the three weeks that matter most, when championships are on the line and, in many leagues, money is on the line.

   For 23 weeks, you’re building a roster around talent, production, category needs, consistency, and long-term value. Then the playoffs arrive and suddenly you’re expected to completely change that team because of late-season shutdowns, skipped starts, workload management, changing rotations, rest days, bullpen changes, and unpredictable playing time.

   There’s a big difference between having to make smart adjustments and having to substantially change the entire construction of a team you spent 23 weeks building simply because the fantasy playoffs were scheduled during the most unpredictable part of the MLB season.

   If the response to concerns about all of this is simply “managers should adapt,” that doesn’t explain why the current format is actually preferable. It only means managers can survive it.

   I’ve also seen multiple users say they would consider moving their leagues to other platforms if Yahoo continues scheduling the default playoffs this late. I obviously can’t speak for how many people would actually leave, but when that sentiment keeps coming up from different users, I think it’s worth taking seriously.

   Yahoo shouldn’t have to wait until users leave before addressing a format issue that could be proactively improved.

   I’m not asking Yahoo to force every league to use an earlier schedule. Private leagues can continue customizing their settings however they want. I’m simply asking Yahoo to reconsider the default schedule for public leagues based on what the MLB season actually looks like today. Or at least giving us an option of joining a league thats 20 weeks long. You’d see that the majority of people would choose and sign up for the 20 week season as opposed to the 23 week one.

   If Yahoo believes the current schedule is preferable, I’d genuinely like to understand what the actual benefits are of keeping the playoffs this late, and what Yahoo believes would be lost by moving them approximately two weeks earlier.

3. Players locking prematurely

   When a game's start is delayed it would be great if the players in that game did not lock at the original start time. It becomes important to have options including the possibility that a delayed start could turn into a suspended game. Thank you!

4. Change Championship Week to the 2nd to final week of the MLB Season

   Congrats on ruining yet another Championship Week in Yahoo Fantasy Baseball. I don't understand how you guys can be so stupid? We spend all year aquiring the best talent that we can put together, make the Fantasy Playoffs, make it to Championship Week only to have our teams decimated because position players are getting days off to rest for the playoffs and starting pitchers are missing starts or having starts cut short because they need to rest for the playoffs or are being positioned to open up the wildcard games, etc...This continues to happen year after year, and quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of it. Fantasy Football has its Championship Week on the 2nd to last NFL regular season week so why on earth doesn't Fantasy Baseball? Of course, I'm talking about the Head-to-Head Leagues only. This really ****** me off. Plus tonight in MLB, there are only 3 games scheduled so effectively Championship Week is only 6 days long. This really sucks. YOU NEED TO CHANGE THIS YAHOO!!!!!

5. Starting Playoffs 2/3 weeks earlier

   I’d genuinely like to understand what the actual argument is against this change.

   From a fantasy player’s perspective, moving the default public-league playoffs approximately two weeks earlier seems like the most logical solution. I’ve yet to hear a legitimate reason why this would make the fantasy experience worse.

   Baseball is already an extremely long season. We’re talking about moving the fantasy playoffs up two or three weeks — not eliminating a meaningful portion of the season. What’s the real downside to cutting two or three weeks off the fantasy calendar when there are still roughly five and a half months of MLB games leading up to the playoffs? At some point, having a fantasy season run as long as possible isn’t necessarily better if those final weeks are also when player availability becomes the most unpredictable.

   The problems with extremely late-season playoffs are only going to become more pronounced as MLB continues to evolve. We are already seeing more player rest, workload management, skipped starts, bullpen changes, injuries, and teams making decisions based on their real-life postseason situations. There is no reason to think that trend is going to reverse and not potentially get worse.

   If anything, Yahoo should be getting ahead of this rather than waiting for the problem to become even more significant. Especially when theres more people who would want this, than not.

   The only other explanation I can come up with is that Yahoo simply benefits from keeping fantasy players engaged with the app and website for those additional two or three weeks. Obviously, I can’t say that’s the reason, but from the outside it is difficult to understand what other significant downside there would be to starting the public-league playoffs earlier.

   There is also an additional benefit that I don’t think gets enough consideration: starting fantasy baseball playoffs earlier would reduce the overlap with the NFL season. That’s particularly relevant for Yahoo’s most active fantasy users who spend the most money and may be managing 20-30 leagues across multiple sports.

   Ultimately, I’m not asking Yahoo to eliminate flexibility. Private leagues can continue using whatever playoff schedule their commissioners prefer. I’m simply suggesting that Yahoo make the earlier schedule the default for public leagues, where Yahoo controls the format. Or at least give an option for the majority who would like this to happen.

   So if Yahoo’s position is that the current schedule is preferable, I’d genuinely appreciate hearing the specific reasoning behind that decision. What are the actual benefits of keeping the playoffs this late, and what is the downside to moving them approximately two weeks earlier?

   Because from the perspective of a fantasy player, I can identify numerous benefits to moving them earlier, while I haven’t yet heard or thought of a compelling reason not to.

   I’d appreciate a substantive answer rather than simply having the suggestion acknowledged and closed out.

6. Please remove all players from the Can’t Cut List during the final week of the season

   The Can’t Cut List can be a disadvantage for the owner who rosters a player if they need to prioritize certain categories for the final week of the season. There should not be any restrictions on who can and cannot be cut at this juncture.

    Fantasy league message boards are not going to be available for the current season however you can still access historical message board posts through your fantasy profile. You can continue to communicate with your league via Fantasy Chat, email and commissioner notes.
